Royal Lahaina Offers Kaanapali Concert Series This Summer Featuring Barry Flanagan and Eric Gilliom

Aloha from Tom Barefoot's Tours,

We are contacting you because one of our agents has probably spoken to you recently about a trip that you are taking to Maui this summer. We wanted to include some additional information that you should be aware of regarding some special musical presentations that will be happening on island.

Our good friend, Barry Flanagan, the "Hoku" award winning Hawaiian performer is having some special showings this summer at the Royal Lahaina Hotel. These are going to be fantastic and we simply wanted to let you know they were happening. Unfortunately we will not be vouchering them so if you have an interest you will have to contact the number on the attachment provided below to make a reservation.

Barry Flanagan and Eric Gilliom are simply so good that we wanted to give you a "heads up". Please make a reservation early if you have an interest in hearing some of the best music available on the islands (or anywhere else for that matter).

For more information about Barry Flanagan and his concert series, please visit: http://www.tombarefoot.com/barry_flanagan_hapa.html and http://www.tombarefoot.com/main/royal_lahaina_kaanapali_nights.html

Please enjoy and have a great summer,

Aloha,

Tom Barefoot

The Best Luaus on the Hawaiian Islands

Best Luaus on Maui - As you probably know, the only place on the planet you can truly attend a luau is in Hawaii, and arguably, the very best luaus to be found in the state are on Maui, so if your going to do aluau, you should do it right here. The other thing that I should mention at this point is that if your going to decide to book a luau on Maui, you should probably consider doing it right now or as soon as you possibly can, long before you actually arrive on vacation, because some of our very best luaus (not all but some of them) actually are sold out weeks and even months in advance. I know it seems incredible, but it is the absolute truth. Even if the luau is not sold out, the sooner we make a booking for you the better the seating arrangement will be for you and your family when you attend. With regard to shows: years ago the only type of real entertainment we had at night were luaus and dinner cruises. Today we have some world class entertainment which holds it own by anybody’s standards. Please take a look in this section at the Maui Theater’s “Ulalena” which is a special production only to be found on Maui. Warren and Annabelle’s Magic Show is also an incredible favorite and if possible should not be missed. For more information about Maui Luaus - click here.

Best Luaus on Oahu - Luaus are the big attraction
on Oahu. No question about it, luaus on Oahu are the single biggest event
participated in by our island visitors. And why shouldn’t they
be. This is the quintessential Hawaiian party and feast. You won’t
find anything like it anywhere in the world. I always rationalize
that I’ll be going out to eat somewhere that night anyway so
for a little more why not include the show and the entire orchestrated
event into the evening excitement. Oahu luaus are certainly
among the most famous in the state. All provide transportation
to and from and one, the Sea Life Park luau even includes entrance
to the park and exhibits prior to the show and even for a month after
the day of your big Hawaiian feast. Remember that luaus here
are a must and they won’t let you back on the plane to go home
if your passport is not stamped and validated by your luau provider.
Just kidding, but you and your family and friends will love attending
a luau while on your vacation to Oahu. For more information about Oahu Luaus - click here.

Best Luaus on Kauai - No trip to Kauai is really complete without attending a luau. This is the one activity that is so totally Hawaiian that to miss it would be to miss a link to the origins of old Hawaii. The food, the drink, the hula and entertainment, and the general social setting of this Hawaiian party is certain to make this evening a memorable highlight of your Hawaiian experience. For more information about Kauai Luaus - click here.

Best Luaus on the Big Island of Hawaii - Every Hawaiian island has its luaus and if the Big Island is the island you’ve decided to visit, then you should do a luau here. No trip to Hawaii is really complete without one. This is the one activity that is so totally Hawaiian that to miss it would be to miss a link to the origins of old Hawaii. The food, the drink, the hula and entertainment, and the general social setting of this Hawaiian party is certain to make this evening a memorable highlight of your Hawaiian experience. Customer Testimonials - Part 3

Here are some of the customer testimonials we have received.

------------

Tom

My most sincere thanks to you and your organization. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip (last week) to Maui. The three packages we purchased through your representative (Billy) were superb! The snorkel trip was outstanding. The ride to Hana was the most informative and enjoyable time and topping it off with the dinner cruise on Friday ended a vacation the way it should be ended.

Again thank you and I WILL make all my future arrangements for any trips to Hawaii through you.

Roger R. Bales

------------

Tom and the team –

This is not a question, but rather an acknowledgement of your fine service and friendly staff, like Leslie and others.

For the past 7 years, we have been using your service for over 20 activities. We have never been disappointed in service or in value. We always refer you to people we see and will continue to do so.

Keep up the great customer service - it really pays off. We just got back from Maui yesterday, so we will see you all again in 2008.

Thanks for everything.

Pat Abbott

------------

Tom,

I just got off the phone with Lori and am amazed at the customer service I just received. Never have I been treated so warmly or talked to a more knowledgeable person in my life. The advice and hospitality she has shown me makes me laugh at all the times I asked people what to do in Hawaii. If I ever receive that question, I will have one response and that is to call Lori. She truly cares about her job and the people she helps. I thank my lucky stars I stumbled across your website and was able to work with her. I have no doubt the next email I send to you will be how dead on she was about what I need to see as a first-time visitor to your island.

Thank you for employing people like her who help to make my honeymoon a great experience!

Matt Van Egeren

------------

Tom

Thank you. Your website is wonderful. I think it is the easiest one I have ever used. I will get with my mother and we will make our choices and book.

Thanks again.

If you're looking for tours and activities in Hawaii you've come to the right place.

We've been booking Hawaii tours and activities for over 30 years and our Hawaii tour and activity selection is the largest you will find in the state of Hawaii.

Tom Barefoot started this company back in 1975, selling Hawaii tours and activities from a small booth on Front Street in Lahaina, Maui. As time passed the number of Hawaii tours and activities that he booked also grew. Originally his efforts were localized to simply the island of Maui selling only Maui tours and activities but over time grew to include selling Hawaii tours and activities over the entire state.

As Tom's business grew his staff selling Hawaii tours and activities also grew as well. At first Tom Barefoot's Tours consisted exclusively of Tom himself selling Hawaii tours and activities from his modest Front Street booth. Today, you can see by the employee photos on this page that the company has expanded greatly.

Over the years, hundreds of thousands of clients have used Tom Barefoot's Tours to book their Hawaii tours and activities and Tom Barefoot's Tours has been recommended by "word of mouth" and by numerous publications including:

  • Frommer's Travel Guides
  • Fodors Travel Guides
  • Complete Idiot's Travel Guides
  • Hawaii for Dummies Travel Guides
  • Best of Hawaii Travel Guides
  • Rough Travel Guides
  • Lonely Planet Hawaii Travel Guides
  • Moon Handbooks Hawaii Travel Guides

Steve and everyone at Tom's:

I have dealt with your company for many years now and no matter what island I visit, which I do at least once a year, you have always assisted me in the seeing and doing the very best sites on the islands. I cannot thank you enough for your assistance and knowledge. I know that you are always the first one I call when I get ready for another visit to the Islands.

Mahalo and Aloha,

Shirley Pearson

Hello,

My first visit to Maui on 10/2007 was FANTASTIC! An all girls trip w/my 2 best friends & sister & boy, what a memorable trip that was! The highlight -snorkeling @ Molokini. Unfortunately, my sister got sick our 2nd day into our vacation & couldn't go, but the 3 of us will NEVER forget how much fun we had! I raved SO much about my snorkeling trip that my sister wants to return to Maui this coming April so she can experience the warm, friendly, funny staff you guys offered. It's a "re-do" of Maui for my sister & I'm tagging along =).

Thanks for a memorable trip & for taking MY fear of swimming in the water, let alone, the Pacific Ocean! Can't wait to go again this April!

Aloha!

Dianne

------------

Tom and Leslie,

Thank you so much for all you did for our family to make our trip and stay on Oahu even more memorable!! Through your services we booked the Paradise Cove Luau, Navatek Whale Watching, Hawaiian Parasailing, Star of Honolulu Dinner Cruise and a Pearl Harbor tour. Each event was incredible and we say one big MAHALO!! Thank you for your great customer service and to Leslie a BIG thank you from Illinois!! Oahu was incredible and such a great trip, thanks to you!!

We'll be back!!

Kay & Steve Hilligoss Family

------------

Tom,

Last week my family was in Maui and booked a snorkeling tour on Navatek through you. We were delighted with the tour and the service we received from your office.

Thanks, we will send our friends to you.

Dean Flanders

------------

Dale,

Good morning. I have "been gonna" write to you for several weeks now and I haven't done it, so here I am. I can not begin to thank you for all of your help and assistance in setting up all the activities for our family when we came to Maui in June. Everything you set up went smoothly and everyone had such a wonderful time. With 14 of us going it could have been a disaster had things not been handled correctly. We all appreciate everything you did. It was especially nice that I could relax and enjoy myself too because I didn't have to worry about all the reservations not being handled correctly. It was wonderful.

We will definitely pass along your name and company to anyone we hear of that is going to Hawaii. Take care and I wish you all the best.

Thanks again.

From an Umbrella on Front Street to Hawaii's Best and Most Trusted Tours and Activities Company

Since 1975, Tom Barefoot's Tours has provided the best discount tours and activities on the Big Island of Hawaii, Maui, Oahu and Kauai. At first, we were a one-man operation providing information about the various tours and activities available on the island of Maui.

In those days, we were located at the corner of Front and Hotel Streets next to the picturesque Pioneer Inn in downtown Lahaina. The base of operation was a booth, not unlike a neighborhood "lemonade stand" handcrafted by the founder.

From this modest pulpit, we perfected our craft and have grown to help travelers from far and wide discover the splendor of the Hawaiian islands. Today, Tom Barefoot's Tours' headquarters is located in Kahului, Maui at 250 Alamaha Street.

Tips from Tom Barefoot (Tips 6-10)

#6 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

Bring a camera to Hawaii.

You might also want to bring or buy a water-resistant disposable camera that can be used on your snorkel trips for underwater pictures or on any tour or activity where your camera might get wet. Disposable cameras take surprisingly good photos.

#7 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

In Hawaii, the Sun's strength is very noticeable.

It's tropical, it's hot, and the Sun's UV rays can be very damaging. While you are in Hawaii, make sure you apply plenty of sunscreen particularly between 10 am and 3 pm.

#8 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

In Hawaii, children are welcomed on most activities, with some exceptions.

Most horseback riding companies will not take children, although a couple of them will. Scuba diving requires a minimum age of 12 years. Infants under two years are allowed on helicopters free of charge, if they're over 2 they're charged full fare. Height is a deciding factor in some activities. A child usually has to be at least 4 feet 10 inches tall for the downhill bike rides and a least 3 feet tall to ride on the submarine.

#9 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

In Hawaii, expect to be inundated with every imaginable form of advertising the moment you set foot in the airport and for the rest of your time on island.

Many of the coupons and discounts you will find in the publications are misleading at best. Many are designed to be a "bait and switch" or a "come on" to a "time share presentation" at worst. Just be forewarned that things get very confusing once you arrive on island and in most cases its better to arrange and plan your vacation before you arrive and avoid the waste of your valuable vacation time.

#10 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

In Hawaii, please be careful with the waves and surf.

The waves and surf are very beautiful and very fun, but they can also cause serious injury for those who are not cautious. Always make sure you know that the place you choose to enter the water is safe. Ask about the ocean conditions if you're not sure. Never turn your back to the waves and don't get too close to the shoreline if you're just admiring nature's beauty.

Tom Barefoot's Audios with Barry Flanagan's Music

Barry Flanagan, founder of “Hapa” has been our friend on the islands for over twenty-five years and he has allowed us to use his recordings as a back-drop to all the audio narratives you will find at http://www.tombarefoot.com/toms_audios.html.

Our thanks go out to Barry and to the members of Hapa!

Do yourself a favor and please visit Hapa’s website at www.hapa.com

You will be able to view and purchase their albums, see their upcoming scheduled events and learn much more about this truly Hawaiian treasure.

The New York Times recently stated that “Hapa is the most successful Hawaiian music group in recent history".

The Honolulu Advertiser’s Senior Entertainment writer, Wayne Harada wrote: “Hapa’s Maui is majestic, the music and packaging are aurally and visually stunning, reflecting a link to the past while soaring mightily into the future”.

Below are quick links to all of the interesting and informative audios on this website. Listen to Tom Barefoot!

Tips from Tom Barefoot (Tips 1-5)

Here are my "Top 5 Tips" to ensure that you have a safe and exciting visit to the Hawaiian islands. I hope you have a wonderful Hawaiian experience!

#1 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

Most of the tours and activities available in Hawaii leave early in the morning.

Mornings are usually the best part of the day in terms of wind, ocean conditions and weather in general. If you are flying from east to west you will find that you will be getting up very early your first morning in Hawaii.

Plan to make use of this time by doing an activity on the first day of your trip. (If you're coming to Maui and planning to do the sunrise bike tour down Haleakala, this is the very best time to take it as they will depart your hotel about 3 am or earlier.) If you're up already, you might as well make the best use of your time.

#2 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

The helicopter tours are fantastic.

Helicopter tours in Hawaii should be done on one of your first days on island as well. Taking the flight early on during your stay will give you a solid grip of the "lay of the land" and will allow you to go back and visit those spots that you felt were most intriguing. Once again, the helicopter tours should be taken in the morning (usually the earlier the better) to beat the cloud cover which often will come in the afternoon. Booking these times could be a problem so please make your helicopter tour arrangements in advance.

#3 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

Don't forget to dress appropriately and pack accordingly to the situation.

Bring shoes, socks, long pants and a warm top to wear. In Hawaii, it's often very cold at the top of our mountain peaks in the morning no matter what time of year. Your long pants will be perfect for your horseback riding adventure.

#4 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

One common mistake visitors make is thinking that "whale season" is all year long.

In Hawaii, "whale watching season" runs from Dec. 15th to May 15th, with the peak being in February and March. The best Hawaiian island for viewing whales is from Maui, as whales mate and "calve" in the relatively shallow waters between Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahoolawe.

#5 - Tip From Tom Barefoot:

If you're coming to Hawaii during "whale season" you might consider bringing binoculars.

Binoculars are the one thing that can really add to the thrill of a "whale watch".

Who is Tom Barefoot?

My name is Tom Barefoot (yes that’s my real name). I came to Hawaii in 1973 from San Diego California at the age of 24.

Within a year and a half of my arrival in the islands I began Tom Barefoot’s Tours, selling tours and activities in Hawaii and have been operational ever since. Over the years my company has grown from a one-man operation to a network of many tour and activity specialists.

My son Jake came into the business as the Director of Human Resources, after his graduation with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Certificate in Management of Human Resources from Southern Oregon University in June of 2007

I live in Olinda Maui, on a retreat property with the love of my life, Doreena Larisch. We operate an aromatherapy farm and spa dedicated to the education of the use of essential oils in creating well being and promoting healing and overall health.
